Sir Alex Ferguson Announces Retirement

FERGIE-LEGEND

After almost 26 years at the helm of the most successful team in our great nation, Sir Alex Ferguson has announced it is time for him to step down (finally) and retire as Manchester United manager whilst his team are at the top.

Following his announcement this morning, tributes have been paid from fans and foes alike and it’s not surprising given his staggering success during his time at Manchester United and one may argue, it is unlikely that the beautiful game will ever see another manager like him, especially not while teams seem to have a constant conveyor belt of managers of fortune – hired and fired like bad contract workers.

We say Moyes will get the job of replacing him – now THAT would be interesting – but whoever does take up the role will have a hell of a shadow to step out from underneath. Below are some of his stats via Stretfordend.co.uk:

Also, did you know that as a player Sir Alex Ferguson scored more goals than Van Persie? Whoever you support, his legend cannot be denied.
