After taking YouTube by storm with their bonkers viral ad starring action movie legend Jean-Claude Van Damme, Volvo Truck’s PR manager Anders Vilhelmsson, has spoken to reporters to confirm that the eye-watering stunt performed by Van Damme was 100 per cent legit.
Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, Vilhelmsson said: “The stunt is real and is performed in just one take.”
Over 20 million people have watched the video on YouTube since it was uploaded and sees Van Damme do the splits between to reversing trucks – just to show off the precision and stability of Volvo’s ‘Dynamic Steering’ – OBVS.
Filmed on a closed off air strip in Spain, the team only had 15 minutes to nail “the shot” as they needed to capture it during the perfect lighting situation. Van Damme reportedly used safety equipement which isn’t visible in the video, but still, it’s one heck of a stunt and another wacky ad under The Muscles From Brussels’ belt.
