NFL Commissioner Thanks Fans For ‘Unprecedented’ Support

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has sent out a message of thanks to NFL fans from across the world for their continued support of American football, which has seen the sport amass it’s biggest following ever over the past 12 months.

In a heartfelt message Commissioner Goodell also saluted the efforts of the teams and NFL staff that has contributed to making American football more entertaining and popular than ever. The 2013 season brought fans a feast of incredible athleticism, extraordinary teamwork, and intense and unpredictable competition. Five teams of the 12 that will be featured in this year’s playoffs were not in last year, including teams that went from the bottom of their divisions to the top, the Carolina Panthers and the Philadelphia Eagles.

In his statement, Goodell said:

You are engaging with and enjoying the NFL in unprecedented numbers – from the stadium and television to mobile, fantasy and more. There has never been a better time to be an NFL fan. We also know we have to earn your loyalty every day, and we will work as hard as we can to do that. We have never been more optimistic about football and its future.”

The playoffs begin this weekend, culminatinating in a historic Super Bowl XLVIII (48) in New Jersey, New York on February 2nd.
