All Weather Training Gear You Need Right Now – Under Armour

L25C4080The weather’s getting shit, and all of your hard work to get fit for summer is at risk of fading as the winter takes hold, just like it does every year. But don’t fear, Under Armour‘s ColdGear and UA Storm apparel is the excuse busting kit you’ve been missing.

I got a chance to train with the awesome folk from @FitnessOnToast whilst wearing the UA Storm Rival full zip hoodie and cotton storm trousers with the ColdGear Infrared Thermo base layers (compression top and bottom), and just to put the kit to a real test Under Armour rigged up a giant cold water shower for us to walk through between training stations. Oh and they made us train first thing in the morning – when we’d usually use excuses like “its too wet or too cold to go outside”.

The ColdGear uses a finely stitched layer of ceramic to retain body heat, and does a great job of keeping you warm as you train, even when you stop, the heat you’ve generated stays with you for longer than regular training gear. I found it even more effective than those silver capes you get after running long distance races. I was sceptical about the effectiveness of the UA Storm Gear as its super comfortable 280g cotton-blend with Polyester (20%), and unlike normal cotton, this stuff has been DWR treated so that water rolls off it. It’s highly effective for training in the rain and breathable, of course its not completely waterproof but it will definitely keep you dryer than your old untreated training gear.

With the whole kit on, I was comfortable, well-supported and crucially, I was warm and stayed dry despite tough conditions. If you’ve been looking for some new outdoor-ready training gear, look no further than: www.underarmour.co.uk
