Today Welsh Rugby Union fullback Leigh Halfpenny completes his head-to-toe Under Armour look for key upcoming international fixtures, unveiling a bespoke golden boot on-field against Ireland at The Aviva Stadium, Dublin.
The special-edition ClutchFit design takes style cues from the recently launched Welsh Rugby kit, featuring ‘Oxblood’ red and gold colourings through from the upper to the sole of the shoe. The studs are a totally unique stand-out feature, hand-crafted by iconic jewellery brand Clogau and contain 9ct rare welsh gold mined from the Clogau St David’s Mine located in the hills of Snowdonia.
Halfpenny goes into the upcoming Rugby World Cup 2015 as a prime contender to be crowned top kicker and has often been referred to previously as ‘the man with the golden boot’ due to his conversion and penalty accuracy. In the tradition of making all athletes better, Under Armour have again demonstrated their support for Leigh Halfpenny both on and off the match day pitch.
Halfpenny, already third on the list of Welsh top point scorers of all time, will be expecting to make a big impact for his team at the tournament. The Welsh Rugby Union Fullback, said, “I’m hoping that the gold boots will bring me and the Welsh team a lot of luck over the coming months. I’ve got all the best kit, now it’s up to me to go and do the business out on the field.”
