Legendary Brit Soul King Omar awarded M.B.E

With a career spanning over 20 years, Omar’s enviable list of accolades and credits already speaks volumes about his highly creative and fiercely original musical talent. With the forthcoming release of his seventh and most assured album yet – ‘The Man’ (Freestyle Records) Omar has now received official recognition of his major contribution to the burgeoning reputation of UK music as he has been awarded an M.B.E for his unrivalled, ongoing contribution to the cultural life of the United Kingdom.

Having collaborated with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Angie Stone, Common, Estelle, Zed Bias, Rodney P, JC Bentley, Canitbe and Ashman, Omar’s forthcoming album is set to be one of 2013’s highly anticipated UK vocalist releases.
Omar says:Accepting my award from Prince Charles, he said “Do drop off your new album when it’s finished! Will do I said!. I am absolutely chuffed chuffed to bits. I want to dedicate it to all my die-hard fans who have always told me to keep on doing what I’m doing.

The music I make comes from the heart because it is all about self expression, a true art form and now to be recognised in such a way is outstanding and I couldn’t be more humbled. I wake up every day and give thanks for the job that I do.

To all my fans I say a big thank you!!! I’m a person that likes to do things differently and without your reassurance that I’m doing something right I’d just be some nutter making up beats and grooves in his mum’s basement! As long as I have music to put fire in my belly, I will keep on keeping on.”
