IMG_9694

Following last year’s success, this year’s series of Relentless Ultra presents Soundchain boasts Florence and The Machine, Rudimental and 50 Cent as guests. The first episode aired last week with Florence and The Machine premiered on MTV.co.uk. The remaining episodes will premiere across the MTV network on a biweekly basis.

Taking the reins from last year’s host, Zane Lowe, is Nick Grimshaw who offers an authentic approach to music, as one of Britain’s leading taste makers and a champion of new music. The 30 year old Northerner is well known for his warm, enthusiastic and insightful approach, making him a perfect fit to encourage artists to talk openly about their personal experiences with music.

Speaking about taking over from Zane Lowe, Nick Grimshaw said:

The difference with Soundchain is that there’s no album or tour to promote, no scandal to uncover. We just get to sit and talk as music lovers about the thing that we love. It’s a chance to have a proper conversation about music.”

A fascinating exploration into the musical journeys of six major names across the industry, the second series of Relentless Ultra presents Soundchain carries on where the first left off, which featured Ed Sheeran, Kasabian, Chase & Status, Nas, Jake Bugg, Biffy Clyro and Queens of the Stone Age.

Uncovering the stories and inspirations that shaped some of music’s biggest stars, each show features revealing interviews broken up by exclusive live performances. Each artist tells the story of their personal journey from grassroots to international success, the key events that shaped their career, the obstacles they have had to overcome and commitment they’ve made to reach the very top of their game.

The first episode featured Nick’s friend Florence Welch of Florence and The Machine. During their candid discussion Welch shared some of her earliest memories as a music fan, and discussed who she considers her key influences. “I listened to a lot of Nina Simone, Billie Holiday and Etta James when I was growing up… I think a lot of my first real songs that I loved were from musicals,” Welch revealed.

The continuation of this partnership between Relentless and MTV provides synergy for both brands. With a fresh injection of charm from Nick Grimshaw, the new series is a must-watch for music fans.

Relentless Ultra presents Soundchain pulls no punches for 2015’s series, with further global musical acts to be announced for the rest of the series.
