To celebrate the launch of EA SPORTS UFC 2, out now, EA SPORTS challenged five elite athletes from MMA, football, rugby and boxing to compete in the #FinishtheFight challenge. Packed full of different modes, EA SPORTS UFC 2 delivers an experience for every fight fan with the challenge replicating the brand new, fast and furious Knock Out mode.

UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold and the legendary Antonio ‘Big Nog’ Nogueira represented MMA with Super Middleweight, George Groves and England legend, Nick Easter, flying the flag for boxing and rugby respectively. Football’s strongest man, Bayo Akinfenwa, was the fifth and final athlete to complete the line up.

Using the latest technology from Strike Research, the athletes’ power and speed was compared as they went toe-to-toe and blow-for-blow. Rockhold’s devastating right hand topped the charts with a record-breaking power score of 99,637, while Groves’ vicious blow closely followed with a score of 70,770.

Incredibly, Easter and football’s strongman Akinfenwa were just short of the level expected of professional Heavyweight boxers. The two sluggers hit monster scores of 66,630 and 66,139, respectively, while the retired ‘Big Nog’ showed his strength by registering a score of 65,112.

Strike Research Chairman, Kevin Franklin was amazed by the performance of the athletes and, in particular, Rockhold’s record-breaking effort: “Luke’s score is the biggest straight punch we have ever recorded. We examined his punches and the staggering scores come as a result of fantastic technique and lightning speed twinned with near perfect accuracy and single pointed focus on impact. Heavyweight boxers tend to be punching at around 70,000 so a score of nearly 100,000 is nothing short of phenomenal.”

EA SPORTS UFC 2 will let fans experience the thrill of finishing the fight on Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, if you haven’t picked up your copy yet, don’t sleep, it’s a knockout!
