Cosy Up This Autumn With Harbour Nights at The Anthologist

The Anthologist dining

Autumn is in full swing and with longer nights and shorter days, there’s nothing better than getting together with loved ones for an evening of hearty food and uniquely crafted beers. For the next six weeks, The Anthologist on Gresham Street has partnered with the renowned Cornish craft brewery, Harbour Brewery, to bring a taste of the West Country to the central London cocktail bar and restaurant.

For the ultimate taste of the Cornish coast, the sophisticated all-day bar will host a VIP four-course menu on 7th and 14th November in the private dining room complete with 1950’s kitchen and an alfresco terrace. The menu will comprise rotating weekly specials, using pork from the Harbour farm. The dishes will be served alongside specially paired tap beers will accompany the beers available on tap.

Head chef Yann Baril, has used delicious hand-picked produce inspired by the Cornish coast, to hero the pork and pair perfectly with the uniquely crafted beers available. While tasting the menu, enjoy a bespoke beer flight, sampling three selected Harbour beers from the range to highlight how the range of exquisite flavours can be enjoyed with refreshing beers.

The Anthologist – The perfect pair

When it comes to food and drinks pairing, the general rule of thumb is acidic flavours in drinks are always a good bet with seafood and heavy food. Whereas sweet drinks go well with salty and spicy food. Textures are important too – bubbles go well with crunchy and fried foods, making Harbour brews perfect with Baril’s Anthologist menu.

As you enjoy each course, IPA and beer enthusiasts will be able to learn more about the different beers and their flavour profiles, and how to match different beers to different dish types. Tuck in to seared Cornish scallops with black pudding and Antipodean IPA to start, a confit pork cheek with crushed celeriac and an extra pale ale. And finish with a delightful raspberry tartlet, rounded off with a Pilsner.
