Fox TV hits reset on one of the best loved and most popular superhero world’s in comic book and film history with upcoming Gotham (TV movie) that will show us the lives of some of the dark city’s best known faces before they became the characters we know and love.

Ben McKenzie (Fantastic Four) stars as a young (commissioner-in-training) James Gordon, but this isn’t his first time working on the franchise, having already starred as the voice of the caped crusader in animated film Batman: Year One, back in 2011.

Slightly more youthful Gotham stalwarts featured in the show include Bruce Wayne played by child actor David Mazouz, The Riddler (Cory Michael Smith), Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) and Catwoman (Camren Biconova), and seems to focus on James Gordon’s origin story as well as fleshing out the early beginnings of the others.

One of the actors we’re most excited to see featuring in Gotham is Jada Pinkett Smith (Big Willy’s wife), who stars as sadistic gangster Fish Mooney as the show explores a new chapter untold in Gotham’s storied folklore.

Brought to the small screen by Warner Bros. Television and written by The Mentalist’s Bruno Heller, a date has yet be announced for when the premier will air, but we cannot wait! Hopefully it’s at least as good as S.H.I.E.L.D.
