NOTHING Ear 1 Release Date Confirmed

Carl Pei’s London-based tech firm NOTHING has teased the release of its debut product, a pair of true wireless earbuds, the NOTHING Ear 1.

Beyond that, details are scant. Pei teased an image of the Ear 1 back in March, with many commenters guessing correctly that NOTHING would be releasing some earbuds. We don’t have any specs to go on, but based on this image and NOTHING’s Ear 1 press release, we know some interesting bits about these upcoming buds.

NOTHING EAR 1 – KEY SPECS

  • See through, minimalistic design
  • Release date June 1
  • True Wireless

Speaking about the upcoming release in his blog, Carl Pei wrote:

Design is still top secret but what we can tell you is that Ear 1 combines notes of transparency, iconic form, and refined functionality. It is the starting point that will define the artistry, confidence and craftsmanship that will carry our products and services for years to come.

Everything that is Ear 1 is there with purpose. Everything you see and everything you don’t see. Even the name.

Mirroring the product’s stripped-down aesthetic, the name Ear 1 echoes our raw ambition — to let things be what they are.

We don’t try to dress it up with a fancy name. Nor do we want to sit around debating said names. We let Ear 1 speak for itself.

…we believe the earphones market was begging for differentiation, a space where we can elevate design and deliver value from day one.

Additionally, as an area of hyper growth, the earphones market will provide a fertile backdrop as we strengthen our capabilities and prepare to enter new product categories.”

It’s not surprising that a pair of earbuds would be the first product to come out of NOTHING. Apple has shown that with the right products and marketing, earbuds can prove wildly profitable.
